Privacy Policy

1.Who we are
EduConsult helps students find and apply to universities in Europe. EduConsult is operated by Evely Borodits and Daniel de la Rica, who together act as the data controllers for the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
You can contact us about anything in this policy at info@educonsult.net, and we will provide a postal address on request.
2.What we collect
When you submit our booking form we collect your name, email address, phone number if you provide it, graduation year, the countries and programmes you're interested in, which service you're considering, your availability for a call, anything else you choose to tell us, and how you heard about us.
If you become a client, we also process the documents you send us so we can prepare your applications — typically academic transcripts, identity documents and personal statements.
We do not collect special category data such as health information, and we ask that you do not send it to us.
3.Why we process it
To reply to your enquiry and arrange your intro call — on the basis of your consent, given when you tick the box on the form. To provide the services you have purchased — on the basis of our contract with you. To issue invoices and keep financial records — because tax and accounting law requires it. To keep records of our correspondence with clients — on the basis of our legitimate interest in running our business.
We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.
4.Who else has access
We use Squarespace for our website and form submissions, and Google Workspace — including Gmail and Google Drive — for our email and for storing client documents. These providers process data on our behalf under their own data processing agreements.
We share your information with universities only where it is necessary to submit an application on your behalf, and only with your knowledge.
Some providers are based outside the European Economic Area. Where that is the case, transfers are covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
5.How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become clients are kept for 12 months, so that we can pick up the conversation if you come back to us.
Client records and application documents are kept for 3 years after our work together ends. This lets us help you again — for example with a later master's application — and lets us answer any questions about work we did for you.
Invoices and accounting records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
6.Your rights
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it if it's wrong, to have it erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time where our processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these, email info@educonsult.net. We will respond within one month.
If you believe we have handled your data improperly, you may complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon) or to the supervisory authority in the country where you live.
7.Cookies
Our website uses cookies necessary for it to function, and Squarespace analytics cookies that help us understand how visitors use the site. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
8.Students under 18
Many of the students we work with are under 18. Where that is the case, we ask that a parent or guardian is involved in the enquiry and consents to our processing of the student's information. A parent or guardian may contact us at any time to ask what information we hold about their child, or to ask us to delete it.
9.Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
